Athens Uncovered: An Extension to Crete

Today we fly together from Heraklion airport in Crete, to Athens. We will be met at the airport by our driver and transferred to our hotel. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure.

We will enjoy dinner together this evening in a restaurant with an amazing view of the Acropolis to discuss the next few days in more detail.

After breakfast we will meet for a morning tour to Athens visiting the Acropolis and the Acropolic museum. The Acropolis is the ancient citadel that rises above Athens and is home to some of the world's most famous monuments, including the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Propylaea, the monumental entrance.

We will then meet our local food expert to discover the rich culinary traditions of Athens. As we explore the vibrant atmosphere of the city's central open-air market, you'll have the opportunity to sample a selection of small bites and local delicacies while learning about the ingredients, flavours, and stories behind Greek cuisine.

We return to our hotel for the rest of the day at leisure.

After breakfast, depart for a visit to the beautiful Pyrgos Vassilissis Estate, one of Athens' most historic and picturesque wineries.

Enjoy a guided tour of the estate, exploring its organic vineyards and winery, the historic tower of Queen Amalia and King Otto, beautifully landscaped gardens, and traditional stables. Your visit concludes with a tasting of locally produced wines, perfectly paired with a selection of Greek cheeses and homemade traditional pies.

Following the tour, savour lunch at a local restaurant before returning to central Athens.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure—perhaps explore the city's charming streets, browse local boutiques, or simply relax at a café.

This evening, gather for a memorable farewell dinner at a restaurant overlooking the illuminated Acropolis, the perfect setting to celebrate the end of your unforgettable Greek journey.

After breakfast it’s time to say goodbye to Athens. Your driver will take you back to the airport for your homeward flight or you continued travels.
